Is the Media Biased or Unbiased ?

There is a very common allegation these days across the nation that the media is ‘biased’. There has been a considerable debate over such issues since quite a long time and people have come out with different solutions to the problems faced by Media across the entire country. In my opinion, I feel that the media is completely biased over a particular area of interest, or a particular political party or we can consider a particular issue that is in the news at that particular time.
Like for instance, Times Now mainly broadcasts news of the North and acts biased against the other states of the nation.  It is the media that decides which topic needs to be hyped and also determines which topic would gain popularity amongst the mass audience. However I can also be wrong in my opinions in deciding things related to media.  The media covered ‘The Anna Hazare Movement’ for he entire week; covering all the aspects of the movement which comprised of: What Anna ate, what he did, what was his conversation with the people. At the same time there were some other important things going on in the nation like the downfall or rise of share market, the budget issue was on its forefront. Here arises the question of how many knew the happenings of the movement and how many were aware of the rest of the important things in the nation? There is one more incident that would make my statement correct that the media is biased towards particular states in India.  There was a bomb blast in the north- Eastern state planned on a scooter where 4 were killed and about 18 were injured.
This was broadcasted by almost every news channel in India but on the contrary, a  train accident took place nearby West Bengal but this wasn’t shown on Television. why? Is this not important? Doesn’t that state belong to India? The newspapers are also not behind in the race to avoid these north eastern states. Also when we consider Dehradun, Meerut, and some areas of the North are not paid heed too. Things that are happening in the northern states are considered to be ‘not of much importance’. Also there is Irom Sharmila Chanu from Manipur who starved for almost a decade for corruption but no media be it print or Broadcast media did not publish or telecast it. But on the contrary when it comes to Anna Hazare, everything was telecasted and the government took appropriate measures to take care of Anna’s Heath.
So , in my opinion, I feel that Media in India is biased.
