The view of Taj Lands End Hotel at Bandra

This is an image of the Taj Lands End Hotel in Bandra where the logo of Taj is being constructed above the hotel. It is something like ' up above the world so high; like a diamond in the sky'. This line is very famous and well known to everyone and takes us  back to our childhood!! This logo of the Taj is under construction and this marks it's distinct phenomenon.
Moreover it looks really attractive and heart throbbing if seen while sitting on the rocks at Bandstand and viewing it when the night comes in power! It really brings in a feeling of richness and elegance and makes people to keep their mouth open and still and utter only one word and that is "WOW".

The actual view of Marine Drive on 29th Aug. 2012

The scenic beauty at Marine drive yesterday i.e. on 29th August was heart throbbing and this brings in more attraction for people from people around the world. The amazing cool breeze spreading all over, the eagles above the sky and the raindrops falling on my cheeks. What a fantastic evening it was

The view of the rain coming to us and we chasing it was mind wobbling in my terms The crabs walking on the rocks and the 'chai walla' coming to us and shouting his lungs out just to sell his weird tasting chai There was a groups of friends sitting close to my gang and then our evening was one of the momentous occasions of my life; you c !! The picture above says it all There was a group sitting as I mentioned earlier; and this group passes comments on almost everyone who passed the place And what else could we want more than such an amazing entertainment!!

Today I thought of doing something different!! So here is a poem which speaks my heart out!!

                                                                                                                                                                                    Source: Google

Growing with Hope!!

When I was a child; a kid,
I always dreamt of a big house, a bicycle,
a new school bag, a new frock, a new hair band..
but I got only few of these!!

Then when I grew up
And reached 10,
I dreamt for a new pair of jeans,
A new pair of shoes,
A new pair of accessories..
But again had only few amongst them..

Then when I reached teenage,
I had big dreams like the others did; like a normal girl.
I dreamt of a popular tuition class,
Good friends, enjoyment,
my friends coming to my house and I going to theirs…
But a few things of these happened yet again..

Then ….. I never dreamt……
Never hoped!!
Things happened themselves…
And now here it is…
With the grace of God….
A big house; well managed;
Money
Friends
And love!!

Yet another example of Hazardous behavior of Indians

This is the actual image of the Arabian Sea while  was leaning on the wall opposite to Taj Hotel, CST

Now this is a scenario of our very own Arabian Sea which is amongst the most  attractive wonders  in Mumbai..People from different states of the country come to see the famous Taj Hotel which has become all the more famous after the 26/11 i.e  after the terrorists attacks ..  Now this is how people take care of the places that belong to them; isn't it?

People behave in a very nasty fashion and do not bother what hazard they are creating for the sea and also for the fellow men of the state.. The corn seller shells the corn and roasts it and people eat it deliciously because that brings in great aroma , but where does he throw the left over? The left over goes to the Sea..  All the waste is being thrown here!!
Now as the above picture shows; there are plastic bottles thrown in the Sea.. Is there no one who looks into the matter with curiosity? These plastic bags get accumulated and create obstacles for almost everything.. This is a step taken by people just to make their way out and find it easy, they just flip their hand behind and throw it.. It hardly does matter to them..

Maniac women driving on footpaths leading a chaos for the pedestrians

The other day when I was traveling in my complex bus, I got stuck in a very terrific traffic where the vehicles were unable to move due to water spread all over the road.. This was a completely disturbing scene with the loud noise of horns of different cars, scooters; and the noise hit the ears so badly that one was unable to tolerate such a nuisance... In this chaotic situation, a women drove her scooty (a vehicle for women) on a footpath where there were people; walking.. This situation was not paid heed to and was watched over by spectators as they always do..
The traffic remained stagnant till approximately fifteen minutes and on all over this,
A maniac woman created yet another issue out there by shouting and asking people to give her way to move.. And when asked as to why was she driving on the footpath; the answer that she gave was, “I am getting late and I need to reach office”.
Now this statement meant that others who were stuck don’t want to reach on time? This is the sense of responsibility that we Indians have these days.. The place which is meant for public commuters to walk; those placed too are used b such maniac people and over all that, if someone comes on their way, they retaliate in such a manner that whatever they are doing ;against the rule of driving is absolutely fine and then they drive off with no guilt in them.. Is this something not important as a part of taking
Common people for granted?

This Image will drop your jaw down!

The picture above says it all, isn’t it?

The proverb, “Prevention is better than cure” goes very apt here with this image!!

There is nothing that can prove this fact wrong that women keep calling their husbands when they don’t answer their phone calls.. It gives them a feeling that their husband must be ignoring them... But the fact lies in a totally different context where the husband is driving and here; in this situation; the wife keeps calling her husband to check on him!! This advertisement tells us how fatal can a single phone call be!!
Every time you call someone who has a vehicle, always remember how dangerous can your step be!!
It becomes a rule here for all those who keep calling their dear ones when they are driving.. While driving it becomes necessary for people to focus on the direction and drive safely, but if someone calls at this time, the person driving may get distracted and might loose control. The above advertisement states it very clear that, you might loose your loved husband, son, daughter, father or anyone who drives.. and the aftermath of the incident would bring in loads of problem. All this just because of one fone call!!
So beware people, do things wisely and avoid unwanted circumstances!!

Tehri Garhwal- a  panoply of beauty..

Tehri Garhwal precisely speaking is ‘Heaven on Earth’.. The sound of the mellifluous birds, with fresh air and the scenic beauty all around ; makes it even more attractive and the atmosphere;soothing !!
I belong to this place and I am proud to have such a beautiful hometown where nature speaks it’s heart out..
The Old Tehri town was the capital of Tehri Garhwal made by Raja Sundarshan Shah after removing the Gurkhas from the particular territory with the help of the East India Company around 1851..
The Tehri Dam is built on the river Bhagyarathi, a tributary of  river Ganga and is the worlds biggest dam that generates hydro- electricity.
The Tehri dam was the world’s biggest dam to generate hydro electricity!!
People in Tehri had fixed the time of the watch according to the time displayed on the Ghantaghar… Millions of school going children and woman were dependent on the clock of the Ghantaghar!!

This is the image of Ghantaghar before it got submerged. Source: Google

As stated by TOI in one of its Edition in March 2006:

The famous Ghantaghar (clock tower) built in 1897 by Tehri's fourth ruler Kirti Shah in honour of British Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee of accession to the throne has found its final resting place in a watery grave.
It took nearly five months for the structure known for its intricate architecture to submerge after Tunnel 2 of Tehri Dam was closed on October 29.
The "Purana Darbar" of Tehri's erstwhile rulers had submerged in Bhagirathi's depths in December. But the 110-feet tall clock tower the last landmark of Tehri's glorious heritage vanished on Sunday. It took so long to disappear as it stood about 250 feet higher than the low-lying bazaar area of the town.
So far the rising water of the dam's reservoir have submerged Sonadevi, Bhagwatpur, Malideval, Siroin, Godi and several other villages.
Few people used watches in Tehri and were used to the time marked by the Ghantaghar," said Rajiv Nayan Bahuguna, son of Sunderlal Bahuguna and an old resident of Tehri, adding nostalgically that after surviving earthquakes, it had to fall to a dam.

NAGAON- redefined!!

Now this would appear like a stone when u have a look at it in the first place; but when you go closer to it; and stamp on it with your feet, you will feel a subtle softness creeping in..  You find it totally different from what it appeared!! Now if I were to tell you that this isn’t a stone!! Would you believe me? The answer will be a Big ‘NO’…  And yes!! To your surprise this isn’t a stone but this is Clay!!
Earthen clay!!  Can you beat that?
This is ultimate magic of Mother nature.. We; Indians are blessed with such a creation where we get things readily from nature.. Man does not use it properly and does not realize the importance of the natural things that are present for use!!
Nagaon is a village in Alibaug, Raigad district, which has a vast stretch of long coniferous shaped trees. This village is basically famous for its natural scenic beauty with the rising and setting of the sun... The view during both; the dawn and the dusk is something that is worth watching... There is a never ending beach that is a part of the vast Arabian Sea. The clay that is present here on the shore of the beach is silk soft and is the original clay from Nature. And there are many such stones like substances which is the f original clay all over the shore of the beach..
The Nagaon village is basically a tourist centre where people come to spend their weekends and fell the happiness in  being close to nature by feeling the cool breeze and listening to the soothing sound of the waves that dash the shore!!

‘Waste management’ -  the need of the hour

Waste management is related to various dimensions of our society and needs all over involvement. Social dimension of this problem is related to the waste minimization and involves behaviour changes and awareness rising. Waste recycling and decomposing add administrative and technological dimension which require the support of community, private sector and innovative technology. Only a little insight into the problem can lead to effective solutions. Recent study indicates around 99% effective waste management by North America and Australia. Compared to that ; Asia is the poorest one where 60 to 65% waste is openly dumped.
Waste management in North America and Australia mainly involves landfill and recycling methods. Landfill method incorporates burial of solid waste into the ground surface to raise its level or to fill the pits and cracks in the ground surface. With the modern compaction methods for waste, the problem of vermin and bacterial decomposition can be avoided. In India as we need more infrastructure for development solid waste can be a good-filling material for roads and high way construction. Even the required pre-processing will lead to employment generation by small plant setups. A common by product of the landfill is gas which is a mixture of Methane and carbon dioxide. This gas is combustible and can be harnessed from the pores. Biological reprocessing includes bacterial decomposition of biodegradable waste. The manure prepared through this method is quite good for farming purpose and even cheaper too. Methane produced during this process can be used for electricity generation. Paper, PVC and plastic recycling is known even to the kids these days. Along with these incineration methods can also be used. But they should be accomplished by proper thermal treatment plants. Implementation of these solid waste disposal methods will help a lot to support our employment and energy needs.
These solutions basically go into the account of technological and administrative domains. Still the social awareness is a major hurdle. Social dimension to the issue is mainly dependent on individual awareness. A whole culture of waste management is to be put in place. But administration is always a major contributor to one’s culture. Slight administrative changes can lead to better social awareness. Like food processing and brewage companies should be encouraged to recollect their empty bags , bottles, and even cans on slight discount or exchange scheme. This will provide low production cost and along with that it can be a good marketing scheme as well. Food vendors and shops can be given special credits by Municipal Corporation if they use recyclable glass and plates. Challans, bills, and all sort of legal paper can be made of agricultural waste. Residential societies or even the individuals can be given community tax redemption if they reduce their solid waste.
Thus slight awareness and caution can lead to waste becoming wealth, refuse becoming reuse and trash becoming cash. Who says that waste management is a burden? It is an opportunity for development….

  Do good; get good!!

This is a time when i realised that yes!! i can do something.. something that will boost up my me self- respect and give me self- satisfaction..
Now let me tell you what this feeling was all about.. this is not about work or being independent.. It's not about being bold or the one with high attitude...It's all about being oneself and handling things within ur capability. The only thing that can give you utter self satisfaction is helping people to overcome their problem and make them feel at ease..This was the thing that happened with me a year ago....
A child in a coaching class; where i used to teach a year ago, a very simple dressed, dark, cute little boy;
with hair combed neatly and shirt tucked in tight, platted pants and with a typical hairstyle of a Benaras boy,was not able to understand what was being taught in class...And to my surprise, he didn't even know how to read simple words.. When asked anything, he kept silent, not uttering a single word.. And this was the time i realized that i need to do something for this child..
Days passed by and so did years.. and I;  as decided helped the child in all ways i could..
Later when the child felt really comfortable with me which he initially wasn't; he started sharing with me his problems about parental issues, his mother; who was mentally not in a state to nurture the child due to some heath problems and about his little sister who was just a year old..
The boy was in Fifth class then and would be of age around 10...
He always said: ( 'miss' here refers to a teacher) " miss, meri mummy pagal jaisa bartav karti hai", "miss meri mummy mujhe maarti hai", "miss, meri mummy meri chooti behen ko khana nahi deti"..
These were tragic things that the child went through.. Now here i was in a great mess and couldn't help the child.. This was a wierd situation for me and i din't understand how should i react to the it..
I felt sorry for him and always thought that he should have patience to let go things..
I tried every little thing to keep the little chap happy... he mingled with me so well that he loved comming to tution and spending time playing, studying, sharing things....In the due course of time even i felt good that someone because of me is happy and living life to the fullest... There were times when the child shared some really blood-curdling family issues with me.. Initially i had always heard of things where the Ghost enters a human soul.. But the child had practically seen it happening with his mother... Now this is jaw-dropping, isn't it?... And....
Then came a time, I left teaching and got busy with my academics. No contacts, no teachers, no students, no Pinto..Pinto was the name of the same,  little cute Benarasi boy.. And to my surprise, when i started teaching again now; after 3 years, he is now in class 8th , really serious about studies, tall, and with the same peculiar look  but does'nt recognise me..  :(

Jaw Dropping Facts!!

Soda a day may see 20% rise in heart attack risk- TOI

This is an article that appeared in the TOI  and I feel I should put in my views on the same.
This is a topic that brings in curiosity amongst all age groups

"Tempting as it may be due to rising mercury levels but people having fizzy drinks daily are at 20% higher risk of getting heart disease than those who don't, a new study suggests. Also, people who drink diet sodas every day have a 61% higher risk of bursting a blood vessel. What is alarming is that even children, who consume 40-70 ml of soft drinks a day, may put on 3-5 kilos every year"..... AND THE ARTICLE GOES ON

All right!! This is a very controversial topic tough..
This article states that when people consume soda; (it may be any beverage like Coke, thumbs-up, etc.) everyday; there are chances of people getting prone to coronary diseases like heart attack risks, etc.
This is high time that people of all age groups should be aware of all the hazardous problems that they may get prone to. The article also brings to our notice that men are more prone to heart diseases than women.
People who consume more of soda, have greater chances of heart diseases than the ones who don't consume!! If given a chance to yougsters, they would prefer drinking a cold beverage(soda) than water..
This consumption may also lead to many diseases in the young kids.
This is a very common phenomenon that people ask for a glass of cold drink when they are tired but they don't ask for water!! What must be the reason for this? The reason could possible be; 'the change in the  standard of living of people'!!
This happens with me too!! i would prefer a cold drink rather than plain water..
so this may be the mind set of every teenager who is like me!!
What we all need to do is, reduce the consumption of these soft drinks so that we can live a healthy and hearty life!!

Is the Media Biased or Unbiased ?

There is a very common allegation these days across the nation that the media is ‘biased’. There has been a considerable debate over such issues since quite a long time and people have come out with different solutions to the problems faced by Media across the entire country. In my opinion, I feel that the media is completely biased over a particular area of interest, or a particular political party or we can consider a particular issue that is in the news at that particular time.
Like for instance, Times Now mainly broadcasts news of the North and acts biased against the other states of the nation.  It is the media that decides which topic needs to be hyped and also determines which topic would gain popularity amongst the mass audience. However I can also be wrong in my opinions in deciding things related to media.  The media covered ‘The Anna Hazare Movement’ for he entire week; covering all the aspects of the movement which comprised of: What Anna ate, what he did, what was his conversation with the people. At the same time there were some other important things going on in the nation like the downfall or rise of share market, the budget issue was on its forefront. Here arises the question of how many knew the happenings of the movement and how many were aware of the rest of the important things in the nation? There is one more incident that would make my statement correct that the media is biased towards particular states in India.  There was a bomb blast in the north- Eastern state planned on a scooter where 4 were killed and about 18 were injured.
This was broadcasted by almost every news channel in India but on the contrary, a  train accident took place nearby West Bengal but this wasn’t shown on Television. why? Is this not important? Doesn’t that state belong to India? The newspapers are also not behind in the race to avoid these north eastern states. Also when we consider Dehradun, Meerut, and some areas of the North are not paid heed too. Things that are happening in the northern states are considered to be ‘not of much importance’. Also there is Irom Sharmila Chanu from Manipur who starved for almost a decade for corruption but no media be it print or Broadcast media did not publish or telecast it. But on the contrary when it comes to Anna Hazare, everything was telecasted and the government took appropriate measures to take care of Anna’s Heath.
So , in my opinion, I feel that Media in India is biased.
